Incumbent works under the direction of the Clerk of the District Court or Chief Deputy, performing administrative accounting activities under minimal supervision. The incumbent also performs customer service functions interacting with the public, attorneys and officers of the court.

Compensation: $31.08 – $41.95/Hour

Essential Functions:
Prepare annual budget recommendations, monitor encumbrances and process invoices.
Audit accounts and balance sheets notifying the Chief Deputy of discrepancies.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the public.
Comply with Civil Service policies and regulations, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, department policies and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment.
Apply accounting and auditing principles and techniques to activities.
Prepare and send reports to the State and create transaction reports.
Prepare and balance daily, monthly, and annual statements.
Develop and submit operating procedures for accounting, auditing, and fund disbursement consulting with Chief Deputy.
Recommend improved financial procedures to the Clerk of the District Court and Chief Deputy.
Utilize jury software to facilitate payroll, and assist in empaneling juries.
Implement new accounting procedures and hardware/software requirements coordinating with Chief Deputy.
Provide supervision of ACH (automated clearinghouse) transactions.
Report to work with regular, consistent attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Education and Work Experience and Other Requirements:
Associate’s degree from an accredited university or college in Accounting or Finance required.
Five (5) years of accounting experience required.*
One (1) year of experience using MSOffice required.
Notary Public or eligible to become a Notary Public in the State of Nebraska required.
Completion of a pre-employment criminal records check and post-offer drug screen required.
*Equivalent education beyond requirement may be substituted for work experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Work requires some physical activity including extended periods of sitting and standing, frequent walking, and occasional balancing, kneeling, bending, twisting, turning and reaching. Work also requires the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Required sensory abilities include vision, hearing and touch. Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close, distance and color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges. Incumbent must possess the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computers and other equipment.
