ROLE SUMMARY

The Safety Manager is directly responsible for managing the safety and risk associated with construction projects and company operations. The Safety Manager will proactively develop, plan, direct, and implement MCL’s safety program to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES    
Essential functions of the role include, but are not limited to, the following:

Leadership and Culture Building:                            30% of time
•    Champion a proactive safety culture throughout the organization with frequent site visits.
•    Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of safety professionals to excel in their roles.
•    Establish safety goals, objectives, and KPIs, and drive the team to meet and exceed them.

Safety Training and Education:                                30% of time
•    Conduct regular safety training sessions for employees and subcontractors on site.
•    Identify specific training needs and develop tailored programs to address them.
•    Foster a learning environment that empowers individuals to take ownership of safety.

Safety Program Development:                                   20% of time
•    Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety policies, procedures, and programs.
•    Stay updated with industry best practices and regulations, ensuring compliance at all times at all levels – local, state, federal, etc.
•    Create innovative safety initiatives that set us apart in the industry.

Incident Prevention and Management:                        10% of time
•    Implement proactive measures to prevent accidents and incidents on construction sites.
•    Investigate incidents thoroughly, identify root causes, and develop corrective action plans.
•    Ensure timely reporting of all incidents and compliance with reporting requirements.

Safety Advocacy:                                                           10% of time
•    Act as a safety ambassador both internally and externally, advocating for our commitment to safety.
•    Collaborate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to promote safety best practices with time spent on-site and in-person.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
•    At least 5 years of safety experience in commercial building construction, with a working knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques
•    Experience in developing and implementing safety policies, procedures, and programs
•    Ability to perform various safety functions on-site
•    Excellent communication, organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills

KNOWLEDGE     
•    Extensive knowledge of OSHA safety processes and guidelines along with Worker’s Compensation Regulations
•    OSHA 30
•    CPR and First Aid Certified
•    OSHA 500 Certification highly desired
•    CHST or CSP preferred

ENVIRONMENT
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, talk, hear, reach with hands, and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch or crawl. The employee is required to drive to construction work sites other than the main office location. The employee may be required to lift 40-50 pounds.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is a typical office setting unless at a construction site with equipment and occasional loud tools. This position is an office and field position that is required to visit active construction sites.
