Position Summary
Under supervision, refuels, performs safety checks and general service work on fleet vehicles and equipment. Transports vehicles to various locations and picks up parts as required.

Essential Functions
•Refuel vehicles and machinery. Check tires and fluid levels of vehicles and report observed defects to Foreman.
•Perform Schedule A Maintenance, which includes checking antifreeze protection levels, changing oil and filter, greasing vehicles and checking the vehicles for defects, etc.
•Maintain records of all materials used.
•Refuel fuel trucks and serve as back-up for the Fuel Truck Driver.
•Transport vehicles to other locations.
•Pick up parts at vendor locations.
•Remove and install tire and wheel assemblies from small and large trucks, cars and construction equipment. This includes working with split rims. Must also be able to remove tires from wheels, repair as needed and put tires on to wheels.
•Operate a variety of District equipment and vehicles, to include trucks with manual transmissions.
•Perform the physical requirements of position.
•Install license plates and stickers.
•Wash and wax vehicles.
•Vacuum the inside of vehicles.
•Perform housekeeping in the shop area, clean garage floors, floor drains and catch basins.
•Assist Mechanics when needed.
•Communicate with and assist customers, co-workers and management professionally, regardless of provocation.

Required for All Jobs
•Perform a variety of other duties as assigned.
•Understand and comply with all District policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•Ability to operate a manual transmission (clutch).
•Ability to drive and back large vehicles with trailers.
•Ability to remove tires from storage racks and remove and replace wheels on vehicles.
•Routinely handle fuel, lubricants and cleaning solutions.
•Ability to routinely climb onto, over and into equipment on trailers loaded with equipment, tools and materials in all weather conditions.
•Efficiently and effectively speak, read, comprehend and write English.
•Experience with personal computers, tablets, and/or other electronic devices to include familiarity with, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and enterprise wide software (e.g., SAP). (Entry proficiency)

Education
•High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) Required
Licenses and Certifications
•DL NUMBER – Driver License, Valid and in State Upon Hire Required and
•Class A CDL License with no restrictions and tanker endorsement; to be obtained within six (6) Months of being placed in position (CDL with Haz-Mat endorsement preferred). Valid CDL license must be maintained while holding this position. within 180 Days Preferred and
•Within thirty (30) days after employment or assignment to this job, must obtain and maintain a Class C Underground Storage Tank Operator certification. within 30 Days Required
•Pre-employment Background Check, Drug Screen and Physical. Upon Hire Required and
•Employee(s) in this position are covered under the Department of Transportation Drug and Alcohol testing provisions. This includes post-accident, random, reasonable suspension and return to duty testing. Upon Hire Required
