Job Description – Support Services Manager (SSM)
This position reports to the Director of Management and Support Services and contributes to the growth and viability of Holy Name Housing Corporation (HNHC) as an innovative non-profit community development corporation. The goal of HNHC’s management/support services is to enable tenants to achieve and maintain housing stability and find opportunities to support tenants, their households, and their communities. The Support Services Manager will coordinate the delivery of supportive services to HNHC tenants and works closely with the Property Manager and Maintenance Supervisor to assure quality management and delivery of supportive services for HNHC rental properties and residents.

• Ensure that the tenants receive all the support necessary to succeed in becoming successful, self-sufficient renters. Support includes counseling, advocacy, life-skills training and home buyer education.
• The SSM will develop goals with each tenant and monitor their progress throughout the program.
• Works with management team to assure tenants are able to maintain their unit and contribute to the stability and well being of the neighborhood community where they live.
• Assists property manager and controller with collection of rents, creation of payment plans and processes for non renewals or evictions.
• SSM must be available to provide occasional trainings on nights and weekends.

• The SSM will document tenants’ progress and provide the management team with a progress report on a periodic basis. The reports include progress made, goals reached and the time it took to reach each goal, training completion and recommendations for further development programs. The SSM and staff will maintain and document records and reports.

Conflict Resolution
• Many times disputes, arguments or conflicts occur between tenants. The SSM must feel capable working with tenants to resolve these conflicts. The SSM must use conflict-resolution techniques to ensure all tenants are satisfied with the resolution. There are times in which the SSM must recommend the removal of a tenant.

• Experience in Social Work, Human Services, or related field and/or equivalent experience in providing case management/training.
• Available to work occasional nights and weekends.
• Understanding of significant aspects of financial literacy.
• Experience in management activities that include supportive services designed to assist tenants with financial obstacles to sustain permanent housing.
• One to three years minimum experience working in the Human/Social Service field.
• Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record.
• Evidence of strong leadership, organization and written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to be an objective listener and show courtesy, compassion, initiative, creativity and good judgment.
• Ability to establish rapport and to motivate others toward achieving goals.
• Ability and desire to work in a variety of settings with culturally diverse persons.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of employees and clientele in a diverse community.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Resourceful, team oriented, self sufficient, and self-motivated.
• Program research and development skills.
• Ability to serve as an effective manager (supervisory experience).
• Ability to negotiate effectively (conflict resolution experience).
• Professional appearance and manner.
• Knowledge of community resources and service systems.
• Proficient with MS Office and general office equipment.
