-Experience in, and knowledge of, medical billing and coding in the following areas: Medicare, Medicaid,

worker’s compensation, commercial insurance, VA, and private pay

-Complete claims, process denials, and submit appeals within timely filing limits

-Comply with HIPAA, contract guidelines from payers, and fee schedules

-Submit prior authorizations as necessary

-Review and code provider visits

-Post payments

-Collaborate on best practices to ensure proper billing and timely payment

-Maintain compliance with CPT and ICD-10 coding and guideline changes

-Send patient statements and collect co-pays and deductible from patient or responsible party


Certification as a medical coder is required. A successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to learn our EHR/billing system and utilize Microsoft Office products. Knowledge and expertise in CPT coding and ICD-10 is required. Must effectively resolve payment denials, escalated issues, and resubmit claims as necessary. Prioritize tasks and accurately document billing actions taken on accounts. Efficiently provide insurance follow-up when necessary. Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with a cohesive and collaborative team. At least 6 months experience as a medical coder/biller is preferred.
