Information Technology Specialist The Omaha Housing Authority: The Omaha Housing Authority is a Non-Profit Government Agency based in Omaha. The OHA contracts with HUD to provide low and moderate-income individuals with safe and sanitary housing through rent subsidies and administers over 2700 public housing units and over 3700 Section 8 units. Job Function: Monitor the daily operations of OHA information and technology systems, provide on-site tech support and troubleshooting which includes cell phone, access control, and related system support. Responsible for PC and user setup, system upgrades, and maintenance. Supports the IT Vendor and Project Manager as assigned. Ensure adequate internal controls and security for all OHA network systems. Essential Functions: Manage and deploy workstations through the entire life cycle. Work with users to ensure they can meet two-factor authentication policies for secure access to the network. Provide initial data network support to users by working with network operations support staff to help troubleshoot basic network issues, isolate problems with network components, performing setup and limited maintenance, and support cable installations as needed. Provide multi-function printer and other device support by loading drivers onto workstations and completing initial problem analysis and maintenance. Provide problem isolation and resolution for systems users, and performance problems. Work in collaboration with Managed Service Provider. Maintain network/user records. Assume responsibility for the inventory of computer equipment and supplies. Recommends changes in programs, routines, and quality control standards. Observes and reports equipment performance deficiencies, and coordinates equipment repairs and deploying new equipment. Maintains current knowledge in new & existing systems software and hardware including tablet and smartphone systems. Must clearly understand all aspects of the policies and procedures of OHA. Coordinates and collaborates with all other departments within OHA in establishing and carrying out responsibilities. Perform special projects and prepare special reports as directed. Additional Responsibilities: May attend and participate in training opportunities and seminars relevant to this position. May travel to various sites around Omaha to perform job duties. May work weekend and evening hours. May be required to serve on-call after hours. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or trade school certificate, or equivalent combination of experience and education that provides the required knowledge and skills. Minimum of five years’ work experience in information technology required. A+ and network security preferred, computer and printer troubleshooting experience preferred. Knowledge of Android and Apple iOS phones required. Must have excellent knowledge of operating system principles, computer hardware, and relevant software products to effectively install and repair equipment. Ability to comprehend technical manuals pertaining to the installation, repair, and maintenance of computer network hardware and software. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, consultants, contractors, HUD, local, state, federal officials; ability to communicate with people from a broad range of socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to analyze policies and procedures and identify opportunities for improvement in operations. Excellent oral, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Must have a strong ability to identify and solve problems. Ability to develop and present training sessions. Must possess and maintain a valid operator’s license and a good driving record. Must be insurable under the OHA auto insurance policy. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office setting amid normal conditions of dust, odors, fumes, and noises and involves considerable public contact. Depending on the assigned division, incumbents may encounter angry, obnoxious, and rude individuals. Abilities: Ability to sit, stand and walk up to 100% of the time; and reach stoop, squat, push, pull and type up to 25% of the time. Ability to move objects weighing up to thirty (30) pounds up to 33% of the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
