Position Summary:
The Education & Community Engagement Manager is responsible for facilitating the administrative needs and functions for education and community relationships, including developing relationships and creating and evaluating programs.
This position requires a proven commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility, and an understanding of how the arts can interface and develop diverse collaborations and connections.
The Omaha Symphony’s nine-month concert season consists of six diverse series (MasterWorks, Symphony Joslyn, Pops, Symphony Rocks, Movie Music, Family) and an array of related community and education-based activities. This position will be required to work various events and must have some night and weekend flexibility.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identifies and evaluates education and community partner goals and needs, establishes expectations, and facilitates program implementation to help partners meet those goals.
- Develops and manages program content and implementation strategy alongside the Director of Education and Community Engagement.
- Develops, sustains, and strengthens educational and community partnerships in collaboration with the Education and Engagement team.
- Manages day-to-day incoming communications/inquiries and planned external communications with partners.
- Coordinates small ensemble engagements, and schedules of community-imbedded musicians.
- Assists in creation and management of events at Omaha Symphony education/community/family programs.
- Researches and creates multi-faceted reports of departmental activities, including but not limited to statistical analysis of collected data and program evaluation and assessment.
- Collaborates with development and marketing teams to achieve programmatic goals and funding.
- Designs and manage on-going training for the musicians and staff, including identifying learning opportunities and individualized training needs in partnership with the Director of Education & Engagement and IDEA committee.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 3-5 years’ experience in creating and implementing education or community-imbedded programs.
- Detail-oriented, organized and in possession of strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work and communicate with a wide variety of individuals.
- Capable of creating and maintaining excellent relationships on behalf of the organization.
- A self-starter who can work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and digital mailing software (Wordfly or similar).
- Familiarity with a broad base of multimedia tools.
- Familiarity with, and interest in, the performing arts/event planning/event management.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with community leadership to create impactful access to the performing arts.
- Is bi-lingual in English and another language.
Minimum Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, social services, or an arts discipline from an accredited university or college.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Required to sit for extended periods of time.
- Requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate; public events are moderate to loud.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
