The Maintenance Technician performs repairs, preventative maintenance and installation of production machinery. Including structures and grounds.
Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by performing preventative maintenance tasks. Locates sources of problems using hand and power tools and determines wear, replaces worn, defective parts or other changes needed to accordance following blueprints, schematic drawings, operations manual and manufacturer’s specification.
Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt. Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
Run equipment to test operations following equipment upgrades, modification and new installations. Provides essential documentation (PM’s, work orders, etc.) and completes research for root cause analysis when and needed.
Works directly with Maintenance and others supervisors and assists line operators and staff. Train and demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators and other personnel. Maintains continuity among all work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Provides grounds keeping services such as snow removal/landscaping. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required.
Minimum of 2-years’ experience in maintenance mechanic or in related field.
Prior experience operating a forklift, LOTO (Lock out Tag Out) and Machine guards.
Experience with various hand/ power tools, tape measures, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs.
Must pass pre-employment drug screen and physical
Able to work night shift and work additional operating hours/days (weekends) and On call availability.
Maintenance of regular attendance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of PLC’s, AC/DC motors and drives, and variance on volts 3 phase power
Knowledge of basic math, reading and writing skills.
Able to assess and function effectively in an ever-changing environment
Detailed oriented with ability to work under work pressure to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations.
Ability to communicate effectively
Superior problem- solving abilities along with a can- do attitude
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work is in a warehouse setting, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.
Employee must have clear, close vision for reading and computer work. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, balance, stoop, grasp, talk, hear and operate computer keyboard. Job may require reaching at or above shoulder level and below waist. Will occasionally lift/push/pull up to 75 pounds.
