Position Summary
The Building and Grounds Maintenance Worker performs general cleaning and maintenance in and around District offices, garages, storage areas, and facility grounds. This position will be responsible to safely and effectively utilize and operate various cleaning, lawn care, and snow removal equipment, tools, and materials to carry out the duties of this position. Additionally, the position will work independently or as a member of a team to coordinate the setups for meeting rooms, the installation and movement of furniture, machines, equipment, and other building and grounds needs while completing the responsibilities of the position.
Education
•Required – High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
Minimum Requirements
•Required – Minimum of 1 year of experience with one (1) or more of the following: handand power tools, floor sweepers, scrubbers, buffers, mowers, snow equipment, and/orlawn maintenance equipment including small tractors.
•Required – Working experience complying with safety standards and policies whileperforming tasks.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Testing
•Required – Have and maintain a valid driver’s license Upon Hire
•Required – Pre-employment Background Check & Drug Screen Upon Hire
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Mechanical ability with hand and power tools.
•Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out/apply District specific safety and operating procedures and policies.
•Ability to operate floor sweepers, buffers and scrubbers, mowers, snow removalequipment, small tractors, paint sprayers, and other similar equipment.
•Familiarity with personal computers, tablets, and other electronic devices and software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) andenterprise wide software (e.g., SAP).
•Ability to learn new or upgraded computer software as required, including work task management systems.
•Efficient written and verbal communication skills, in English, to assist internal and external customers, co-workers and management professionally, regardless of provocation.
Essential Functions
•Maintain District buildings, garages, and grounds by performing a variety of scheduled and as needed general maintenance. General maintenance to include, but not limited to: installations; painting; moving of furniture and equipment; general repairs; and preventative maintenance required to maintain District facilities in accordance with established cleaning, environmental, maintenance, safety, sanitation, and security policies and procedures.
•Ensure the interior and exterior appearance of District facilities are clean, aesthetically pleasing, and well maintained. Promptly and correctly address hazards (i.e. debris, broken glass, spills) in accordance with established cleaning, environmental, maintenance, safety, sanitation, and security policies and procedures.
•Maintain the interior of District facilities by performing routine cleaning and maintenance including, but not limited to, general repair; painting of walls, doors, and other items as required; caulking; dust/polish and move furniture/equipment; floor and stairs care (i.e. vacuuming, sweeping, washing, waxing and buffing); cleaning appliances; cleaning bathroom/locker rooms; cleaning/dusting light fixtures; replacing light bulbs; and emptying trash containers. Maintain stock of supplies in restrooms, breakrooms, conference rooms, and other related areas.
•Maintain the exterior of District facilities by performing routine maintenance including, but not limited to, general repair; painting of walls, doors, and other items as required; caulking; grounds keeping; mowing of lawns; maintaining landscaping including planting, mulching, weed spraying and removal, and other tasks as required; and cleaning garage floors, floor drains, and catch basins. Maintain all paved surfaces including, but not limited to, performing patching repairs for asphalt and concrete roadways and walkways; caulking; painting of parking stalls, pedestrian crossings, curbs, and other items as required; and the clearing and removal of debris, ice and snow from roads, parking lots, sidewalks, and docks to meet established guidelines, policies and procedures, and safety standards.
•Operate and maintain a variety of equipment, machines, tools, and power tools to complete assigned tasks, while complying with safety standards and ensuring District assets are well maintained and used effectively and efficiently.

•Maintain common areas (i.e. conference rooms, lunchrooms, training rooms, restrooms) and ensure coffee, supplies, and materials are stocked to meet District sanitary and safety guidelines.
•Prepare conference rooms for meetings, move needed equipment and furniture as requested, and perform/assist with setup and take down for employee events.
•Operate the following District vehicles and equipment: cars; light duty vehicles; pickup mounted snowplows; small tractor loaders; snow blowers; riding mowers; skid loaders; paving sweepers; floor scrubbers; paint sprayers; and other equipment as required and trained.
•Communicate with and assist customers, co-workers, and management professionally, regardless of provocation.
•Ability to work alternating shifts and be available for standby or call-out as required for snow removal, severe weather damage cleanup, and other emergency situations affecting facility operations.
•An individual in this position maintains buildings and grounds at various District locations as assigned.
•Perform routine maintenance and repairs under the guidance and training of a Building Engineer or Supervisor – Building Operations.
