Job description:

Position Summary
Order, issue, receive, and stock materials, parts, supplies and tools. Monitor and process inventory, operate small forklifts, move heavy objects by hand, and process stock issue and return tickets for multiple divisions. Originate requisitions for parts, tools and supplies. Research and order non-routine and custom repair parts, materials and supplies.

Education

Required – High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Minimum Requirements

Required – Minimum of 4 years of previous clerical experience including inventory maintenance and recordkeeping.
Required – Minimum of 3 years of previous experience working in an automotive or heavy equipment warehouse and/or storeroom setting.
Preferred – Experience in the District’s Transportation Division.

Licenses, Certifications and/or Testing

Required – Have and maintain a valid driver’s license Upon Hire

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the use of the District’s computer-based materials purchasing and inventory software and fleet maintenance module.
Demonstrate knowledge of auto, truck, mechanical, electrical and machinery parts and supplies obtained from work experience.
Possess knowledge and experience in researching non-routine and custom parts.
Ability to lead and direct the work of Stores Clerks I, IIs & IIIs.
Clerical and organizational skills in order to maintain inventory and other records.
Proficiency with personal computers, tablets, and/or other electronic devices to include familiarity with, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and enterprise wide software (e.g., SAP). (Entry proficiency)
Ability to learn new or upgraded computer software as required.
Efficient written and verbal communication skills, in English, to assist internal and external customers, co-workers and management professionally, regardless of provocation.
Effectively and professionally work one-on-one with others in a personable manner.

Essential Functions

Research, prices and orders non-routine and custom repair parts, materials and supplies.
Work with Transportation Specialist and Shop Foreman to determine options, source, order and oversee accessories and ancillary equipment for new vehicle and equipment upfits.
Communicate directly with various vendors, suppliers, manufacturers and sales representatives.
Initiate, process and complete purchase requisitions using computer-based materials management system.
Receive, inspect, store, and issue materials, parts, small tools, special equipment, and supplies.
Prepare and code issues and returns.
Take physical inventory, determine quantities and reorder points for existing and new items.
Set up and remove items from inventory and maintain control of all parts and supplies used by the Transportation and Maintenance divisions.
Check salvageable materials and parts that are returned, repaired, and reconditioned.
Process invoices for payment of blanket purchase orders and direct payments.
Prepare requisitions, cost transfer entries, and assist in the maintenance of records.
Process and account for petty cash transactions as required.
Update and maintain computerized fleet records.
Modify bills of material in computerized fleet maintenance system for vehicles and equipment.
Communicate with and assist internal and external customers.
Maintain records of returnable containers, fire extinguishers, batteries, and tires.
Maintain neat and orderly warehouse.
Answer telephone.
Drive District vehicles.
Deliver and pick up parts when required.
Operate a forklift.
Fill in for the Stores Clerk V as needed.

– Frequent use of stair ladders to place or grab materials or parts that are higher

– Frequent use of carts (35 inches) or pallet jacks to move materials

– Frequent-occasional use of hand/power tools

– Occasional overhead reaching for higher items lifting items that are approximately 25lbs

– Occasionally stacks pallets, approximately 45lbs, and carries pallet (height of stack varies depending on workday)

– Frequent use of computer to enter in orders, inventory, etc.

– Frequent-occasional sitting to utilize computer (this varies depending on workday) Cleans area as needed

– Frequent sweeping and cleaning work areas

– Work in a dusty/greasy environment consistent with a vehicle and equipment repair shop area.

– Safely operate forklifts

– Transport heavy objects such as tires to the storage racks and parts such as truck brake drums, batteries, etc. from the floor to the storage shelves
