Position Summary
Under general supervision, supports communications functions at the District. Responsible for writing, videography, graphic design, and photography for publications, and other Communications projects. Provides support for employee and customer events. Supports District social media channels as needed.

Education

Required – One (1) year of college completed with a study emphasis in journalism, communications, public relations or a related field. If a recent graduate, must be pursuing post graduate hours.

Licenses, Certifications and/or Testing

Required – Have and maintain a valid driver’s license Upon Hire
Required – Pre-employment Background Check & Drug Screen Upon Hire

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Strong organizational skills; attention to accuracy and details.
Must be a self-starter.
Ability to work with limited supervision.
Ability to work on several projects at one time and meet deadlines.
Writing skills, with emphasis on using active verbs; use of Associated Press writing style.
Strong skills and experience in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
Skills and experience in visual storytelling including writing, shooting and editing.
Experience in social media content creation. (Entry proficiency)
Proficiency with personal computers, tablets, and/or other electronic devices to include familiarity with, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and enterprise wide software (e.g., SAP). (Intermediate proficiency)
Ability to learn new or upgraded computer software as required.
Efficient written and verbal communication skills, in English, to assist internal and external customers, co-workers and management professionally, regardless of provocation.
Occasional evening and weekend hours may be necessary.

Essential Functions

Create content (writing, video, photos) for District communications, including website, presentations, social media, etc.
Provide planning support for employee events, including design, promotion, execution and photography.
Assist with District’s fundraising efforts, including campaign strategy and planning, material design, and event coordination.
Provide support to other members of the Corporate Communications and Business Development teams, as directed.
Various administrative tasks, including but not limited to data entry, mailings, department inventory.

Physical And Environmental Requirements

Office: Work is primarily performed in an office setting amid normal conditions of dust, odors, fumes, office lighting and noise.
