Job description:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and empathetic Financial Coach to join our team. As a Financial Coach, you will work closely with clients to provide personalized guidance and support in managing their finances, achieving their financial goals, increasing their net worth, improving their financial literacy, and becoming financially secure and upwardly mobile. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of personal finance principles, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping others succeed financially.
Responsibilities:
Financial Coaching & Financial Literacy Services
1. Follow the financial empowerment model designed by the National Urban League.
2. Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions with clients to assess their financial situation, identify goals, and develop personalized financial plans.
3. Educate clients on the five critical elements of financial security: learning, earning, saving, investing, and protecting.
4. Provide support to help clients create and stick to realistic budgets and savings plans.
5. Analyze clients’ financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant documents to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to address economic challenges.
6. Support financial products and services, including banking accounts, credit cards, loans, and investment options, tailored to clients’ needs and goals.
7. Monitor clients’ progress toward their financial goals and provide ongoing encouragement and accountability.
8. Collaborate with other team members and external partners to provide holistic financial solutions to clients.
Financial Capability & Program Coordination
9. Develop and facilitate financial literacy workshops on topics such as creating spending plans, banking basics, etc.
10. Track and analyze financial outcomes, program participation, and success rates to assess impact and improve services.
11. Stay current on industry trends, regulations, personal finance, and financial coaching best practices.
12. Work closely with financial partners to offer financial opportunities and facilitate workshops.
13. Ability to evaluate data in order to expand on featured programming.
Partner Engagement & Event Coordination
14. Develop and maintain relationships with financial partners, training institutions, and workforce development partners to create training opportunities.
15. Serve as a liaison between financial partners and program participants to enhance financial opportunities.
16. Ability to conduct outreach and recruitment activities.
Administrative & Reporting Duties
17. Maintain accurate records to include case notes, track participant progress, and document employment outcomes using program databases i.e., Salesforce.
18. Prepare monthly reports on financial literacy activities, program effectiveness, and participant success stories.
19. Ensure compliance with grant requirements and funding guidelines related to financial literacy programs.
20. Complete monthly reports and outreach reports on a timely basis
21. Administer pre- and post-tests to evaluate knowledge gain.
22. Administer satisfaction surveys to all participants who participate in any FEC initiative/programming.
Qualifications & Skills
1. Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field OR 5 years of experience in the related field. Certification in financial planning or coaching is a plus.
2. Proven experience in financial coaching, counseling, advising, or a related field.
3. Strong understanding of personal finance principles, including budgeting, saving, debt management, investing, and retirement planning.
4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts in simple terms.
5. Empathetic and non-judgmental approach to working with clients from diverse backgrounds and financial situations.
6. Ability to build trust and rapport with clients and maintain confidentiality.
7. Proficiency in financial planning software and tools.
8. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
10. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
MODERATE: Lifting to 25 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting or carrying such articles as files, packages, or deliveries. Sitting/walking and standing are required often. Occasional exposure to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature or noise, etc.)
