Job description:

Incumbents work under direct supervision of the Assessor/Register of Deeds or designee, performing basic clerical duties, processing incoming and outgoing mail, and other office duties in the recording office.

Compensation: $20.27 – $28.06/Hour

Essential Functions:
Open, screen, and distribute incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail.

Establish and maintain effective work relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, and the public.

Comply with Civil Service policies and regulations, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, department policies and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment.

Retrieve, digitize, print or email document images from the land-records management system.

Prepare certified copies and process routine requests and payments generated by title companies or the public.

Log customer transactions via the central kiosk in the order they are presented and assign to full-service staff.

Enter documents into the land-records management system for public access.

Redact Form 521 and any documents containing private information.

Demonstrate a positive and professional image of County government

Report to work with regular, consistent attendance.

Perform other duties as assigned and directed.

Education and Work Experience and Other Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent required.

One (1) year of clerical or customer service experience required.

Completion of a pre-employment criminal record check and conditional offer drug screen required.

Work is generally performed in an office setting. Noise level is typically moderate. Work hours are typically day-shift hours; however, schedule may vary (e.g. weekends, overtime/extra hours, emergency call-in). Work may be stressful when dealing with time constraints, multiple/changing priorities, and uncooperative/irate individuals.

Work requires some physical activity, including extended periods of sitting, standing, frequent walking, reaching, and occasional balancing, kneeling, and bending. Work also requires the ability to occasionally lift/carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

Required sensory abilities include, vision, hearing, and touch. Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close, distance, and color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges. Incumbents must possess the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computers and other equipment.
