Position Summary: Youth Program Coordinator(s) at North Omaha Community Partnership (NOCP) is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the Day and Evening Reporting Youth Program. This role is crucial for providing structured, recreational, and educational activities aimed at youth involved or at risk of involvement in the juvenile justice system. The coordinator will act as a mentor, role model, and leader, fostering personal growth and positive decision-making among participants.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and execute a variety of age-appropriate activities such as sports, arts, STEM projects, and life skills workshops. Tailor programs to meet the diverse needs of participants and organize special events and field trips.
Actively supervise all program activities, ensuring a safe and engaging environment. Establish trusting mentorship relationships with youth, address behavioral challenges effectively, and promote a culture of respect and inclusion.
Manage attendance records, prepare activity materials, and communicate program updates to parents and guardians. Oversee participant recruitment and registration efforts.
Collaborate with NOCP staff to enhance program delivery and participate in professional development opportunities to improve youth services.
Experience & Education:
One to three years of work experience or equivalent education in Family Services, Youth Development, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field.
Qualifications:
Experience leading group activities and knowledge of trauma-informed care principles.
Proficiency in managing challenging behaviors and implementing positive discipline strategies.
Demonstrable experience working with at-risk youth in structured program settings.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage young people. Knowledge of conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
Demonstrated professionalism when dealing with confidential information and commitment to the mission and values of NOCP, with a passion for making a significant positive impact in the lives of young people.
Must have at least a high school diploma (or equivalent) and be at least 21 years of age.
A background check will be required, verifying the applicant’s ability to work with minors and families.
Job Type: Part-time
Compensation: $20 per hour
Working Conditions:
Office-based role with primary working hours during 8:00AM to 5:00PM Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekends will be required
Routine physical demands include lifting up to 25 pounds, operating office equipment, sitting, standing, walking, and typing.
Certifications/Licenses: valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
