Incumbents work under the direction of the Branch Manager or designee assisting customers complete transactions, providing services and obtaining documents processed and issued by the Real Estate and Motor Vehicle Divisions.

Compensation: $20.19/Hour

Essential Functions:
Assist customers in person, by phone and mail in completing transactions to obtain motor vehicle titles and registrations, prestige plates, handicapped stickers, payment of real estate taxes, etc.
Respond to questions from the public regarding requirements and procedures for obtaining motor vehicle titles and registrations; prestige plates, handicap stickers, etc., as requested, compute tax estimates for customers.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the public.
Comply with Civil Service policies and regulations, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment.
Accept and review documents presented for accuracy and completeness, informing customers of additional information or documents needed.
Process complete documentation presented; compute tax assessments, credits, and refunds.
Complete transactions in strict adherence to established regulations.
Perform data entry, prepare and issue requested documents, collect and process fees, or forward completed documents to designated staff for collection of fees.
Process request for motor vehicle titles, registrations, etc., received by mail.
Prepare report of daily transactions, and submit to the Main Office.
Utilize the computer system, microfilm, hard copies and other means to research, verify, or clarify information as needed.
Respond to questions and inquiries within level of expertise and serve as a source of information and referral.
File registrations, titles, credits, refunds, correspondence, and other documents.
Report to work with regular, consistent attendance.
Perform other duties as directed and assigned.

Education and Work Experience and Other Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
One (1) year cashiering experience required.
Two (2) years of public contact, customer service, and clerical experience required.*
*Equivalent education beyond high school may be substituted for work experience requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Work is generally performed in an office setting. Noise level is usually moderate. Work hours are generally standard day-shift hours; however, work schedule may vary (e.g. weekend, overtime, emergency call-in). Work may be stressful when dealing with time constraints, limited resources and uncooperative/irate individuals.
Work requires some physical activity including extended periods of sitting and standing, frequent walking, and occasional balancing, kneeling, bending, and reaching. Work also requires the ability to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
Required sensory abilities include vision, hearing and touch. Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close, distance and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges. Incumbent must possess the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computers and other equipment.
