Position Summary
The Finance Manager at The Joslyn oversees all financial reporting functions and contributes to financial management and budget strategy. Responsible for financial statement preparation, audit and tax return coordination, budget preparation, and other financial research and analytics, the Finance Manager serves is a key role in supporting the financial health of the Museum.
Major Duties
• Prepare and issue timely and complete financial statements
• Reconcile endowment and investment accounts
• Maintain and track endowment net assets for donor restrictions
• Maintain the chart of accounts
• Prepare annual budget templates. Compile annual budget and analyze changes. Modify forecasted budgets as
directed by the Director of Finance & Operations
• Track capital projects and prepare capitalization analysis upon completion.
• Perform bank reconciliations and other periodic account reconciliations
• Oversee payroll processes and assist with accounts payable and cash handling as needed
• Perform various financial analytics to assist in decision making, analyze current financial results and prepare versions of financial information for management and development purposes
• Supervise the finance staff in completion of day-to-day accounting and reporting functions. Serves as back-up for all finance and accounting functions
• Coordinate annual audit with external auditors and the preparation of the annual audit and tax returns
• Adhere to policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
• When interfacing with the public, ensure all visitors to the Museum have a positive experience
• Remain knowledgeable about Museum activities, services, and layout and be willing to assist any visitor
• Other duties related to your department as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation, including nonprofit and fund accounting
• Proficiency in financial accounting software, such as Financial Edge
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Advanced knowledge of computer software (Windows & Microsoft Office) and hardware
• Ability to collaborate with team members on budgets and reporting needs
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in nonprofit accounting
• Expertise in Excel and database tools to enhance department productivity, with the ability to implement improvements as needed
Compensation
Salary: $70,000
