Job description:

Incumbent works under the direction of the Director of Nursing or designee, coordinating and developing staff schedules, identifying and filling vacancies and ensuring adequate staff throughout the Douglas County Health Center (DCHC).

Compensation: $24.84 – $33.61/Hour

Essential Functions:
Plan, develop, schedule work assignments, and post staffing needs in accordance with applicable policies and procedures, budgetary guidelines and collective bargaining agreements.
Utilize staffing software, computing plan sheets and schedules.
Establish and maintain effective work relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies and the public.
Comply with Civil Service policies and regulations, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, department policies and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality environment.
Monitor staff adherence to schedules and adjustments, ensuring adequate staff and service levels.
Review staffing requirements facilitating unit coverage, monitoring last minute changes, determining staff needs, and pursuing corrective action.
Ensure information exchange regarding the interpretation, implementation and administration of scheduling policies and practices.
Assign agency personnel based on facility training/staffing needs, ensuring accuracy and processing of agency invoices.
Assist with the delivery, computing, and auditing of timecards and payroll information.
Develop and maintain a tracking system (e.g. schedules, vacation requests, sick leave, absenteeism, payroll information) and assist in applying absence points.
Complete quality control audits on staffing levels and supporting documentation including factors influencing staff requirements.
Update and maintain DCHC staff licensure/certification and contact information.
Complete and maintain Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure Department forms for the Nurse Aide Registry.
Assist with quality improvement activities.
Maintain job knowledge and skills (e.g. research, in-service sessions, webinars, seminars, meetings, continuing education).
Report to work with regular, consistent attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned and directed.

Education and Work Experience and Other Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.*
Three (3) years of clerical work experience required.*
Two (2) years of MSOffice experience required.
Completion of a pre-employment criminal record check and conditional offer drug screen required.
*Equivalent combination of work experience and education may be substituted for requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Work is generally performed in an office setting. Noise level is usually moderate. Work hours are typically standard day-shift hours; however, schedule may vary (e.g. days, shifts, overtime/extra hours, weekends, holidays, emergency call-in). Work may be stressful when dealing with time constraints, multiple/changing priorities, limited resources and uncooperative/irate individuals.

Work requires some physical activity, including extended periods of sitting, reaching, frequent standing, walking, and occasional kneeling, bending, balancing, grasping, lifting, carrying, pushing. Work requires the ability to frequently lift/carry objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.

Required sensory abilities include vision, hearing, and touch. Visual abilities correctable to normal ranges include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges. Incumbent must possess the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computers and other equipment.
