Job description:
Incumbent works under the direction of the Clerk of the District Court or designee, managing, supervising and monitoring the functions and work activities of an assigned unit in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Compensation: $32.06 – $47.85/Hour
Essential Functions:
Supervise assigned staff (e.g. hiring, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, monitoring, evaluating, recommending personnel actions).
Establish and maintain effective work relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the public.
Comply with Civil Service Rules, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, department policies and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment
Monitor changes in court requirements, submit proposed changes to the Clerk of the District Court or Chief Deputy for review/approval, and implement revisions.
Assist in researching and locating information, answering questions and resolving concerns.
Communicate with staff and management, fostering a supportive and positive work environment.
Adhere to division’s (e.g. Juvenile Court, Domestic, Accounting, Board of Mental Health, Case Processing, Protection Orders, File Department) protocols and processes.
Utilize and follow department standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Prepare, review and process written and statistical reports.
Organize, analyze and interpret data and provide recommendations.
Report to work with regular, consistent attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned and directed.
Education and Work Experience and Other Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.*
Five (5) years of clerical experience required.*
Two (2) years of MSOffice experience preferred.
Notary Public or eligible to become a Notary Public in the State of Nebraska preferred.
Experience in supervising, coordinating or directing the work of others preferred.
Experience utilizing the Clerk of the District Court specialized software preferred.
Completion of a pre-employment criminal record check and conditional offer drug screen required.
*Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substituted for requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Work is generally performed in an office setting. Noise level is usually moderate. Work hours are typically standard day-shift hours; however, schedule may vary (e.g. days, shifts, weekends, overtime/extra hours, holidays, emergency call-ins). Work may be stressful when dealing with time constraints, multiple/changing priorities, limited resources, and uncooperative/irate individuals.
Work requires some physical activity, including extended periods of sitting, standing, frequent walking, reaching, carrying, and occasional climbing, balancing, bending and kneeling. Work also requires the ability to frequently lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds in a joint lift.
Required sensory abilities include vision, hearing and touch. Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close, distance and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges. Incumbents must possess the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computers and other equipment.
