Job description:

Incumbent works under the direction of the District Court Administrator or designee, providing clerical support in the Douglas County Law Library and assisting self-represented litigants.

Compensation: $22.08/Hour

Essential Functions:
Assist library patrons (e.g. forms, computer use, copy/scanning, online catalogs, subscription databases, internet resources, print materials).
Assist with ordering, cataloging, and processing new books and materials.
Establish and maintain effective work relationships with supervisors, coworkers, judges, bailiffs, attorneys, elected officials, law enforcement, other agencies and the public.
Comply with District Court policies, County policies, and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment.
Receive, shelve, and recycle library’s print collection.
Collect, deposit, and report fees for copies and services.
Process monetary transactions, balance cash daily, and prepare bank deposits.
File materials received amending or modifying basic publications and maintaining current references.
Maintain an adequate supply inventory and patron purchase forms.
Ensure confidentiality complying with department policies/procedures.
Provide notary services.
Report to work with regular, consistent attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned and directed.

Education and Work Experience and Other Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.*
Two (2) years of clerical experience in business, library, court or legal work required.*
One (1) year of customer service required.
One (1) year experience with MSOffice required.
Notary Public or eligible within six (6) months of hire and maintained throughout employment required.
Completion of a pre-employment criminal record check and conditional offer drug screen required.
*Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substituted for requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Work is generally performed in an office setting. Noise level is usually moderate. Work hours are typically standard day-shift hours; however, schedule may vary (e.g. days, weekends, overtime/extra hours). Work may be stressful when dealing with time constraints, multiple/changing priorities, limited resources, and uncooperative/irate individuals.

Work requires some physical activity, including extended periods of sitting, frequent standing, walking, reaching, and occasional kneeling, bending, crouching, stooping, and climbing. Work also requires the ability to frequently lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.

Required sensory abilities include vision, hearing, and touch. Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges. Incumbent must possess the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computers and other equipment.
