TYPING TESTS ARE VALID FOR SIX MONTHS.

Incumbent works under the direction of a General Assistance Supervisor or designee, performing highly skilled administrative support functions.

Compensation: $18.08 – $27.27/Hour

Essential Functions:
Operate the intake and referral system (e.g. phone, email), answering inquiries.

Explain program’s eligibility requirements and available services, screen for eligibility, schedule appointments, and/or refer to other resources.

Establish and maintain effective work relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the public.

Comply with Civil Service Rules, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, department policies and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment.

Provide administrative support to management, preparing and maintaining various documents (e.g. correspondence, forms, charts, reports, records, memos, agendas, schedules).

Respond to questions, inquiries, and complaints within level of expertise, taking messages and referring to appropriate contact.

Engage and interact with individuals displaying empathy and acceptance.

Serve as primary source of referral and information for the public.

Schedule, coordinate, and maintain staff appointment calendars.

Coordinate staff meetings (e.g. schedule rooms, prepare information, record and distribute minutes).

Coordinate merchandise card administrative distribution process.

Report to work with regular, consistent attendance.

Perform other duties as assigned and directed.

Education and Work Experience and Other Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.*

Two (2) years of customer service or clerical experience required.*

Two (2) years of MSOffice and Google applications required.

Type/keyboard 40 net words per minute required.

Completion of a pre-employment criminal record check and conditional offer drug screen required.

*Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substituted for requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Work is generally performed in an office setting. Noise level is usually moderate. Work hours are typically standard day-shift hours; however, schedule may vary (e.g., overtime/extra hours, evenings, weekends, holidays). Work may be stressful when dealing with time constraints, multiple/changing priorities, limited resources and uncooperative/irate individuals.

Work requires some physical activity, including extended periods of sitting, frequent reaching, and occasional standing, walking, bending and carrying. Work also the ability to frequently carry objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.

Required sensory abilities include vision, hearing, and touch. Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close, distance and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges. Incumbent must possess the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computers and other equipment.
