Job description:
Incumbent works under the direction of the Housekeeping Manager or designee, performing a variety of housekeeping and/or laundry duties at the Douglas County Health Center.
Compensation: $15.36 – $20.71/Hour
Essential Functions:
Perform assigned duties (e.g. sanitizing, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, trash removal, gathering soiled laundry) using designated products and following dilution protocols.
Follow safety policies and procedures for biohazards and chemical spills.
Establish and maintain effective work relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the public.
Comply with Civil Service policies and regulations, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, department policies and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment.
Assist in moving/arranging furniture and equipment.
Transport clean laundry items and resident clothing to units.
Empty and clean trash receptacles/smoking urns and disposal units; replace plastic liners and deliver refuse to designated collection areas.
Stock laundry and/or housekeeping cart, and submit order forms for supplies replenishment.
Perform dismissal cleaning of facility rooms.
Heat seal identification tags to personal clothing.
Operate and clean power equipment (e.g. vacuum, wet/dry vacuum, floor scrubber and buffer).
Respond to emergency codes (e.g. red, green, silver, black).
Attend in-service training programs and meetings.
Participate in quality assurance activities.
Assist in the placement of privacy and/or shower curtains.
Report to work with regular, consistent attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned and directed.
Education and Work Experience and Other Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old.
Completion of a pre-employment criminal record check, physical assessment, and conditional offer drug screen required.

Work is performed in a long-term care facility and occasionally outside in the elements. There is frequent exposure to dust, dirt, allergens, hazardous chemicals, biohazards and fumes/odors. Noise level is usually moderate to moderately loud. Work hours may vary (e.g. shifts, weekends, holidays, additional hours/overtime, emergency call-ins). Work may be stressful when dealing with multiple priorities, time constraints, limited resources, emergencies and irate individuals.
Work requires some physical activity, including extended periods of standing, walking, frequent balancing, bending, reaching, and occasional climbing, kneeling, stooping, crouching, sitting. Work also requires the ability to frequently lift, push, pull and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Required sensory abilities include vision, hearing, and touch. Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges. Incumbents must possess the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to perform repetitive manual tasks and utilize cleaning equipment.
