Job description:

Incumbent works under the direction of the Clerk of the District Court or designee, overseeing operations of exhibit management in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Compensation: $23.84 – $32.70/Hour

Essential Functions:

Serve as the Subject Matter Expert on exhibit related matters.
Store and manage exhibits (e.g. firearms, ammunition, narcotics, hazardous materials, biohazards, valuables, paper items, clothing).
Establish and maintain effective work relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the public.
Comply with Civil Service policies and regulations, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, department policies and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment.
Evaluate and adhere to statutory requirements, court rules, and procedural requirements, monitoring changes to confirm ongoing procedural alignment.
Accept and handle exhibit items (e.g. required documentation, chain of custody, storage efficacy).
Retrieve and return exhibits for legal proceedings, moving items according to stakeholder needs.
Oversee legal disposition of exhibit items, manage processes for transportation, disposal and destruction.
Manage uploading case process, tracking exhibits within evidence management system and performing periodic inventory.
Prepare and maintain records and reports.
Assist in developing, implementing and updating policies and procedures (e.g. processing and securing exhibits) reviewing and recommending improvements.
Report to work with regular, consistent attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned and directed.

Education and Work Experience and Other Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required.*
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science or a related field of study preferred.
Four (4) years of experience in receipt, preservation, storage and disposition of materials and documents required.*
Two (2) years of MSOffice experience required.
Armor certification or similar upon hire or within 6 months and maintained throughout employment required.
Completion of a pre-employment criminal record check, physical assessment, and conditional offer drug screen required.
*Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substituted for requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Work is generally performed in an office and file room setting. Noise level is usually moderate. Work hours are typically standard day-shift hours; however, schedules may vary (e.g. days, shifts, weekends, overtime/extra hours, holidays, emergency call-in). Work involves potential exposure to unpleasant odors, biohazards, firearms. Work may be stressful when dealing with time constraints, multiple/changing priorities, limited resources and uncooperative/irate individuals.
Work requires some physical activity, including extended periods of sitting, standing, frequent walking, reaching, and occasional balancing, kneeling, bending, and climbing. Work also requires the ability to frequently lift/carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Required sensory abilities include vision, hearing and touch. Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges. Incumbents must possess the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computers and other equipment.
