Primary Function:
Incumbent works under the direction of the Director of Corrections or designee supervising the activities of assigned staff of the Inmate Accounts and Services department including the oversight of inmate accounting, property, and inmate files.

Salary Range: $ 29.05 /hour

Essential Functions:
*Supervise assigned staff, monitoring and directing workload and providing assistance.
*Establish and maintain effective working relationships with inmates, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies and the public.
*Comply with Civil Service policies and regulations, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment.
*Perform management administrative responsibilities (e.g. performance appraisals, orientation, corrective actions, disciplinary recommendations, scheduling, etc.) for assigned employees.
*Provide assistance to all stakeholders’ requests.
*Verify accuracy of receipts and monies from inmates and the public, reconcile and record transactions, and perform monetary transactions.
*Perform recordkeeping for kiosk, web, and in-person deposits, account settlements, commissary purchases, bond/fines/cost payments, program fee payments, garnishments, etc.
*Prepare daily verifications of all inmate account transactions, perform daily audit and prepare bank deposit as well as reconcile transactions.
*Process inmate trustee payroll.
*Prepare cash drawers for various shifts supporting 24x7x365 operations.
*Oversee inmate mail safety, security, and delivery including legal mail ensuring inmate mail is delivered according to schedule, and provide notary services.
*Collect and record money from coin operated machines throughout the facility and campus.
*Prepare and audit inmate files for reimbursable expenses and create billing invoices per terms of contracts verifying inmate incarceration information and determining billable amount.
*Provide escalated support for questions or concerns regarding inmate financial accounts, property, releases, phone accounts, and mail related issues; answer inmate communications or public concerns regarding such issues.
*Manage inmate’s file coordinating maintenance, storage, and retrieval in compliance with record retention regulations.
*Ensure inmate property is properly recorded and maintained during incarceration.
*Release information to agencies (e.g. IRS, Social Security, Department of Health and Human Services, Veteran’s Affairs, etc.) and the public in accordance with established policies and procedures.
*Assist in annual inmate account audit.
*Oversee registrations for the Offender to Work (OWP) program and provide information to other agencies.
*Assist with information requests including search warrants, account information, phone holds, incarceration information, etc.
*Create, maintain, and update staffing schedules according to department needs and policy/procedures.
*Promote a safe working environment for all employees through various activities (e.g. education, review of safety policies, enforcement of safety procedures, etc.).
*Prepare and present reports on department operations and incidents.
*Safely operate a motor vehicle when required to travel on County business.
*Report to work at assigned location with regular, predictable and consistent attendance.
*Perform other duties as directed and assigned.

*High school diploma or equivalent required.
*Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Criminal Justice preferred.
*Four (4) years of accounting experience required.***
*One (1) year of supervisory experience required.
*Two (2) years of experience using Microsoft Office required.
*Experience in a correctional facility or law enforcement agency preferred.
*Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license at the time of hire and throughout the course of employment.
*Must obtain and maintain throughout employment a Nebraska notary within 6 months of hire.
*Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
*Completion of a pre-employment physical assessment and drug screen.
***Approved related education beyond high school may be substituted for work experience requirements on a year-for-year basis.
