Intern – Accounting
Under general supervision, supports accounting functions at the District. Responsible for daily reconciliation of financial assistance payments to customer accounts, preparation of various monthly financial reports and other special projects as assigned.
•Perform daily reconciliation of energy assistance payments to customer accounts.
•Prepare monthly financial reports, which may include the Accounts Receivable aging report, monthly financial summary, and cash statistics report.
•Assist with other special projects as assigned, such as updating plant ledgers, gathering supporting documents for insurance claims, completing annual surveys, and reconciling goods receipts to vendor payments.
•Reconcile open Purchase Orders to outstanding invoices.
•Procedures manual updates/maintenance as directed by the Manager, Accounting.
•May receive work direction and oversight from the Accountant II.
•Strong organizational skills; attention to accuracy and details.
•Must be a self-starter.
•Ability to work with limited supervision.
•Ability to work on several projects at one time and meet deadlines.
•Proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and knowledge of enterprise software. (Intermediate proficiency)
•Ability to learn new or upgraded computer software as required.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills to assist internal and external customers, co-workers, and management professionally, regardless of provocation.
•Occasional evening and weekend hours may be necessary
•One (1) year of college completed with a study emphasis in accounting, finance, or a related field. If a recent graduate, must be pursuing post graduate hours. Required
Licenses and Certifications
•DL NUMBER – Driver License, Valid and in State Upon Hire Required
