Primary Function:
Incumbent works under the direction of the Chief Engineer or designee performing a variety of skilled technical work requiring considerable responsibility and independent judgement.

Salary Range: $ 29.02 – $ 39.69 /hour

Essential Functions:
*Inspect, adjust, troubleshoot, and perform repairs to building mechanical systems and components (e.g. HVAC, boilers, ventilation, fluid systems, and component parts).
*Install, maintain, and repair HVAC, boilers, water heaters, pumps, generators, compressors, steam lines, water lines, gas lines, and electrical systems.
*Establish effective working relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the public.
*Comply with Civil Service policies and regulations, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, department policies and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment.
*Provide prompt, efficient, and responsive service.
*Identify, diagnose, correct or recommend action to supervisor.
*Operate electrical test equipment and analyze devices to determine potential system or equipment failures.
*Adhere to all safety measures.
*Determine necessary equipment and materials; and requisition parts and supplies.
*Interpret drawings and blueprints for structural mechanical, electrical, and general facilities operating systems.
*Perform electrical maintenance (e.g. disconnecting, replacing, and rerouting electrical systems).
*Perform minor braising and welding repairs.
*Prioritize work requests and orders according to standard operating methods.
*Coordinate and oversee contractors.
*Perform ongoing maintenance and work orders.
*Provide technical guidance and recommendations.
*Safely operate a motor vehicle when required to travel on County Business.
*Maintain updated knowledge of equipment technology and trends.
*Report to work with regular, consistent attendance.
*Perform other related duties as assigned and directed.

*High school diploma or equivalent required.
*Two (2) years of experience operating, maintaining, or repairing commercial HVAC systems required.
*Third (3rd) Grade Engineer License required.
*Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and own mode of transportation at the time of hire and throughout employment required.
*Completion of pre-employment background checks and post-offer drug screen and physical assessment required.
*A valid driver’s license at the time of hire and throughout employment required.
