Gain a role model through the Striving for Success Male Summit!
Connect with community leaders and receive valuable advice.
African American males are at-risk for failing to graduate from high school, being under-employed and under-represented in the criminal justice system. Urban League of Nebraska and the Striving for Success Male Summit is designed to change that.
This day-long event is designed for African American males entering high school (9th grade) to excel in education and meet life goals. This summit introduces young men to community leaders and highly successful African American professionals via motivational workshops.
The event is free and includes meals and transportation. This summit is co-hosted by 100 Black Men of Omaha, Empowerment Network, and Urban League of Nebraska.
The 2020 Striving for Success Male Summit will take place September 14 at UNO.
We encourage all young males entering 9th grade for the next school year to attend the free event.
We encourage positive male professionals to register and serve as role models for the day. As a role model, you will be assigned a table of students for the day. and are asked to share their life story and professional experiences as a panelist during the breakout sessions. Register here to volunteer as a role model/panelist/chaperone.
Note: Breakout sessions are only open to young males and adult role models. However, teachers, parents, or community members of any gender can attend the luncheon for a fee.
Students are asked to dress in business casual attire, such as jeans or khakis and a polo or dress shirt. Hats, sandals, jerseys or athletic clothes are not allowed. Adult role models are encouraged to wear suits or their professional attire.
